We won 'Best Innovative Sausage in the North' at British Sausage Week competition in London competition which was presented by JB from JLS fame (he's the one on the right!)
Jonathan Benjamin ‘JB’ Gill is the ambassador for British Sausage Week 2016, the annual sausage celebration which rewards those bangers with the X Factor.
British Sausage Week 2016 (31 October – 6 November) is in its 19th year to celebrate the sausage!
JB, who after selling millions of records and performing to countless number of fans across the globe, left the music industry, with his wife Chloe and son, Ace, to become a farmer who has since reared pigs, cattle and deer. A regular on BBC’s Countryfile and currently presenting CBeebies TV series, Down on the Farm, he has a passion for educating young and old about the countryside, which also includes plans to add author to his CV, with a range of books about the countryside and farming life planned for the future.
JB Gill said: “It’s a huge pleasure to be involved in British Sausage Week 2016, celebrating the amazing range of sausages from around the country. In our house, sausages are always a go-to option for a quick, easy and tasty mid-week meal, which my family loves tucking into".

Flippin' eck, we've "created history"...
at the annual Great Yorkshire butchers showcase
To quote The Confederation of Yorkshire Butchers Councils, we “created history” at the annual Great Yorkshire Pork Pie, Sausage & Products Competition.
They went on to say that Bolster Moor “made a clean sweep of the principal honours in the two flagship classes for the first time in the contest’s 28-year history”. We knew we were good but we couldn’t be happier with this news, especially during National Sausage Week too.
We won both the supreme and reserve supreme pie titles with both our large and small pork pies - then repeated the feat in the sausage section with our speciality sausage and thick pork sausage class winners. We’re flabbergasted to have taken home so many prizes. As always we’ve worked exceptionally hard for this competition and it’s been a massive team effort.
Our supreme champion speciality sausage was made to a pork, chilli and cheddar recipe and was awarded a whopping 60 out of 60 marks and described as “the perfect sausage”. Judge Glossop Q Guild butcher John Mettrick, former president of the National Federation of Meat & Food Traders, enthused: “I have never tasted a speciality sausage as good as this one.”
This means that our reserve supreme champion thick pork sausage now qualifies for the 2017 national Champions of Champions sausage-making competition.
CYBC secretary Mike Ward, from Keighley, said afterwards: “The quality throughout was every bit as good as ever, though Bolster Moor Farm Shop’s clean sweep of the major prizes really is history making. We change and rotate the judges every year and no one knows whose products they are judging and tasting. For them to take all four leading honours is nothing short of remarkable.”

World Pork Pie Champions!
Once again we've won the 'World Pork Pie Championships' and Bolster Moor Farm Shop's Pork Pies have been judged to still be the absolute best!
The Pork Pie Appreciation Society competition organiser, Peter Charnley, had said he was hoping for an upset after more than a decade of Huddersfield domination in pork pie wins. So a decision was made to have women only judge the tasting, with all tasting done 'blind'. However, even with the changes we're delighted to have still been crowned winners once again.
The event was hosted at The Old Bridge Inn in Ripponden and raised over £3,000 for Elland’s Overgate Hospice.
Our expert pie maker Brian Gill said: “It’s brilliant to win. We’ve won it a few times but it’s nice to win it again.”
The secret ingredient of course is the best quality ingredients and a big helping of pie-making expertise. Try them next time you visit the Farm Shop or Coffee Shop, as it's the same delicious award-winning recipe that you can try for yourself!
